How the verification process works – step by step

1. Book Online

Book Online: Choose the appropriate inspection package on our website and complete your booking conveniently online.

2. Data Transmission

Data Submission: After booking, you will receive access to our secure online form where you can enter your company details and relevant quantities.

3. Document Upload

Document Upload: Use the form to upload the necessary documents required for the verification of your quantity report. We will inform you what these are after you book the inspection package.

4th exam

Audit by Certified Experts: Our licensed tax advisors and auditors carefully review your single-use plastic quantities in Germany and prepare the legally required audit report and audit certificate with a qualified electronic signature.

5. Delivery of Documents

Delivery of documents: You will receive the documents, provided with a qualified electronic signature (QES), by email.

What documents are required?

The following documents are generally required for the review of your quantity report:

  • Product overview: A list of the single-use plastic products you have placed on the market during the relevant period, along with their datasheets indicating weight and material composition.
  • Quantity data: Proof of the quantities of the respective products, for example, through sales statistics or production reports. Reports from your merchandise management system (e.g., JTL, Billbee, etc.) are most suitable.
  • Invoice receipts: If required, copies of invoices or delivery notes that prove the quantities placed on the market.
  • Further proof: Depending on the individual situation, additional documents may be required, such as export documents.

Deadlines and Legal Requirements

According to the Single-Use Plastics Fund Act (EWKFondsG), manufacturers are obliged to submit their quantity report annually by May 15 of the following year. For 2024, the deadline has been exceptionally extended to June 15, 2025. Please note that this extension of the deadline is an exception, and the regular deadline will apply again in future years.

It is important to meet the deadlines, as late or incomplete reports can lead to sanctions. In addition, the Federal Environment Agency reserves the right to request an audit even for quantities below the audit threshold of 100 kg.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Who is obliged to report quantities?

All manufacturers who place single-use plastic products on the market for the first time in accordance with Annex 1 of the EWKFondsG are obliged to report their quantities annually. This can also apply to online shops, private label brands, bottlers – so-called co-packers, stationary shops such as butchers, bakers, cafés or snack bars. In addition, the obligation also applies to importers of plastic packaging according to the EWKFondsG.

I have a private label brand, am I the manufacturer?

That depends. If you fill the SUP packages yourself, you will be considered a producer within the meaning of the law. Should the actual producer or a co-packer fill the goods for you, they are considered the producer. This is because, unlike the Packaging Act, the Single-Use Plastics Fund Act focuses on the role of the filler, which makes them the producer who then has to check and report the quantities.

Are there exceptions to the inspection requirement?

Yes, for quantities under 100 kg per year, the obligation for external auditing is waived. However, the obligation to report quantities remains.

What happens if I report late?

Late or missing reports can lead to fines and other penalties. It is therefore essential to comply with legal deadlines. To ensure this, we recommend that you commission us with the audit by the beginning of March. Towards the end of the deadline, audit requests accumulate, which can lead to longer processing times and we cannot guarantee compliance with the submission deadline.

How do I receive my verified documents?

After a successful audit, we will send you the audit report and audit confirmation, provided with a qualified electronic signature (QES), by email.
